World Book Day

Today is World Book Day and regular readers of this blog will know that reading is one of my favourite things.  It is one of the things that I try and squeeze time in my day for.

I answered a tweet that Brit Mums sent out today about what your favourite book is.

It is a great read and good for someone who isn’t perfect around the house (in other words me).

For this post though, there is one aspect of reading that I wanted to cover.  This is listening to audio books.  I haven’t done this in quite a while.  When I was breast-feeding my daughter I enjoyed listening to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone read by Stephen Fry (if I remember correctly).  We have also listened to many of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series in the car as well as The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

I have recently discovered that I can ‘borrow’ audio books from the local library.  There are for all intensive purposes mostly aimed at an older audience.  The first book that I borrowed was all about Anna del Conte who is an Italian-born food writer.  At the moment though, I am enjoying listening to the first book in a series set in Forks about a girl who falls for a vampire.  My son and I enjoyed listening to some of it last night and I think that is what I am going to do now.  Happy reading 🙂

Happy listening Cathy, D has also discovered the delights of audio books via the library since his sojourn in hospital.

    • Thank you dear Linda. I’m sure you’ve got a great book on the go at the moment, and I’m really pleased to read that D has discovered the delight of audio books 🙂
